Samsung brings its Knox security vault to Galaxy A smartphones. To enjoy enhanced security on devices that are much more affordable than the Galaxy S.
Samsung recently announced two new smartphones in its A series, the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35. These devices are the latest in the entry-level category and both come with interesting features, with the most important one being the introduction of Samsung’s Knox Vault security system.
This is the first time the company is introducing a high-end security feature on its more affordable devices, showing a significant initiative to enhance user security and privacy even on budget-friendly devices.
What is Knox Vault?
Knox Vault is just one tool of Samsung Knox, which includes all the features of the company’s multi-layered security platform. Knox Vault specifically helps protect user data by securing the most important data on the device, including unlock credentials, PINs, passwords, and patterns.
The vault also secures the device’s encryption keys and helps keep data on the device safe by encrypting it. This means that only the user with the unlocking credentials can access the data, which is very helpful if the device is lost or stolen.
Knox also helps protect data sent to the Samsung cloud through end-to-end encryption. The system allows the use of passkeys and other important security features directly on the device. Some of these features, like end-to-end encryption in Samsung Cloud, were expected to arrive in early 2024, but are gradually being introduced earlier.
And because the Knox Vault processor is isolated from the standard processor on your device, it makes it more resistant to attacks and vulnerabilities that could affect the phone’s main processor.
Samsung explains that integrating Knox Vault into more devices than just high-end models should further strengthen the program, especially given that its Galaxy A series is among the most popular affordable Android devices on the market.
Samsung is also continuing to enhance Knox, and having more devices on board will undoubtedly help the tech giant develop new protection methods for its users. If the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra or the Samsung 24 are a bit too pricey for you but you still want to enjoy the latest features from the tech giant, then the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 offer a solid and affordable alternative in the Android ecosystem, especially for their enhanced security.
