A Tomb Raider Series by Phoebe Waller-Bridge is Coming to Prime Video

A documentary is in the works about EA Sports’ Madden NFL games. Will it meet fans’ expectations?

It looks like Amazon Prime Video has caught the video game fever. After the success of their adaptation of Fallout, the streaming giant is stepping up with a series based on the iconic game Tomb Raider.

A New Era

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, known for her role in the successful series Fleabag, has been confirmed as both a writer and an executive producer for this ambitious production. “Tomb Raider has been a huge part of my life and I feel incredibly privileged to bring it to television with such passionate collaborators,” Waller-Bridge said.

Details about this project described as “epic and globe-trotting” are limited, although it stems from a deal between Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics to develop shows and films based on Tomb Raider. Furthermore, there is no formal release date yet, but Prime promises a premiere in over 240 countries and territories.

Other Video Game Adaptations

Alongside the production of Lara Croft’s next adventure, Amazon’s gaming branch is also working on a highly anticipated Tomb Raider animated series, which is set to air on Netflix later this year.

Additionally, a documentary series about EA Sports’ Madden NFL games is also in the works. For this project, EA Sports will share rare and unreleased footage from its archives.

Towards Pop Culture Domination?

In addition to these video game-based projects, Prime Video has several surprises in store, including a popular version of Jeopardy! and a Legally Blonde prequel series.

It has also been announced the renewal for a fifth season of the popular series The Boys, as well as the creation of a live-action Spider-Man Noir series starring Nicolas Cage. A documentary about the final 12 days of professional tennis player Roger Federer’s career will also be aired on Prime on June 20.
