Release Delayed Until September 3

Due to technical issues, the delay was decided at the last minute.

The past week has not been the most favorable for Paradox Interactive. The renowned publisher faced challenges with the announcement of another pause in the development of “Prison Architect 2”, the much-anticipated sequel to the 2015 cult hit.

Technical Obstacles Delay the Development Process

Originally scheduled for May 7 (already delayed from March 26), the game will now only be released on September 3. According to developers at Double Eleven, who have received certification for all platforms, technical issues emerged and slowed down the process. Memory issues and failures in meeting minimum specifications were identified, leading to a significant number of game crashes.

Extra Time to Enhance Game Stability

Taking advantage of this additional time, Double Eleven plans to work on the game’s stability and refine some of its features. Paradox Interactive intends to engage players by offering insight into the development process through additional developer diaries and live streams. The first of these broadcasts is scheduled for April 25.

Furthermore, players who pre-ordered the game on console will be automatically refunded in accordance with platform policies. However, they will need to repurchase “Prison Architect 2” if they wish to receive the pre-order bonus. Steam players, on the other hand, can request a refund if they desire.

A Series of Issues at Paradox

These events come after studio Colossal Order announced that they would refund all players who purchased the first asset pack for “Cities Skylines 2”, another game released by Paradox. Following a rocky launch, the studio had to delay the console release and other downloadable content to focus on the game’s main issues.
