Sega unveils Sonic Rumble, exclusively for mobile
Sega, the gaming giant, has recently made an exciting announcement: the launch of a new iteration of the famous Sonic series, titled Sonic Rumble. To everyone’s surprise, it will be exclusively available on mobile devices.
Sonic Rumble: a Direct Challenge to Fall Guys
Sonic Rumble, a “multiplayer action game,” bears a striking resemblance to Mediatonic’s Fall Guys. In fact, the latter even features a version called “Sonic’s Adventure.” Like Fall Guys, Sonic Rumble is a “battle royale” style game that can accommodate up to 32 players where the last one standing emerges victorious. Additionally, players in this game can collect rings to acquire new costumes and accessories.
However, Fall Guys is not the first game to spur competition. **Kitka Games** launched Stumble Guys, (“Big name change,” Sega jokes), with phenomenal success early in 2021. Sega seems to be following a similar approach by focusing on the mobile user audience.
Sonic Rumble Beta Test: It’s Your Turn to Play!
Although its release is scheduled for winter, Sega offers the opportunity to get involved much earlier in the action through recruitment for closed beta tests. These tests will take place at various times between Friday, May 24, and Sunday, May 26. Registrations are available on the Sega website until Sunday, May 19, at 11:59 PM PT.
If you are selected, you will receive a confirmation email from Sega. In the meantime, a trailer showcasing Sonic Rumble is available. Take a look at what awaits you!
