Jeffrey Wright Joins Season 2 Cast of Last of Us as Isaac

The character Isaac from The Last of Us will be portrayed by American actor Jeffrey Wright in the Sony and HBO television adaptation.

Jeffrey Wright: a new face for The Last of Us in the series

As the audience eagerly awaits the arrival of Abby, a feared character in The Last of Us, season 2 has found Jeffrey Wright as the interpreter of Isaac, one of its main antagonists. The actor, known for his role in Westworld, another HBO adaptation, will reprise the role he played in The Last of Us 2. He portrays Isaac Dixon, “the quietly powerful leader of a large militia group seeking freedom but finding themselves entangled in an endless war against a surprisingly ingenious enemy.”

A cast loyal to the video game

The television series has managed to engage the original game’s audience by recruiting several actors who lent their voices to the game’s characters. However, some roles have been recast, such as Joel and Ellie, respectively played by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. Merle Dandridge, on the other hand, reprised her role as Marlene, the leader of the Fireflies, in the first season. Jeffrey Pierce, Troy Baker, and Ashley Johnson also made appearances in different roles, with Ashley Johnson even playing Ellie’s mother after portraying the heroine in the game.

A crucial role for Abby’s character development

Isaac’s introduction in season 2 of The Last of Us is essential to enrich Abby’s story. Indeed, this character, both ruthless and brutal, conflicts with Abby’s desire to protect her remaining friends after the fall of the Fireflies, making him one of Abby’s main antagonists in the game. Furthermore, Wright’s return will allow the exploitation of his acting talents to create compelling narrative arcs for Isaac and Abby.
