A “Wrecked” Season for Fortnite
Gaming giant Epic Games continues to surprise us. In an effort to align Fortnite with cultural trends, it brilliantly introduces a post-apocalyptic vibe for the recent battle royale season, named “Wrecked,” following a strong season focused on Greek gods and monsters.
Visible Inspirations from Mad Max and Fallout
The atmosphere of this season seems heavily inspired by Mad Max, with its desert setting and modified vehicles. An official collaboration with the Fallout universe is also featured. A character resembling the famous Magneto from X-Men is set to be unlocked through battle pass quests in July. This timing aligns with the success of Prime Video’s Fallout adaptation, the arrival of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and the renewed interest in ’90s X-Men.
New Exploration Areas and Modified Vehicles
A sandstorm has swept across the island, bringing destruction and creating a new biome to the south called the “Wasteland.” Players will have three new areas to explore, namely the Redline Rig refinery, the Nitrodrome car arena, and Brutal Beachhead, where a boss named Megalo Don resides.
To enhance the post-apocalyptic feel, vehicles can be equipped with turrets and spiked bumpers. Players can even choose to hijack one of the two War Buses patrolling the island, armed with cannons and an EMP impulse that damages enemy shields.
Collaboration with the Fallout Universe
Lastly, the famous Nuka-Cola beverage from the Fallout franchise is included, which can be consumed to gradually restore health and shields. Additionally, players can unlock a T-60 power armor skin through the battle pass. This exciting and bold new season promises all fans a memorable experience and will run until August 16.
